I don’t know what fuel cost are like where you live but for us as of this post the price of fuel has dropped from in the ridiculous to the still ridiculous. Yes it is about seventy-five cents lower than it was but it is still outrageous!
We are being sucker punched by the fuel companies! Remember when fuel was above $2.00 per gallon headed for $3.00? We were shocked and amazed. It was beyond our comprehension when the price jumped to over $3.00. When it peaked above $3.00 and finally headed down we were so relieved. Now prices have jumped above $4.00 per gallon and dropped back to the mid $3.00 per gallon range and guess what, we are relieved again.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH US? CAN’T WE SEE THAT NEXT SPRING THE PRICE WILL SHOOT UP ABOVE $5.00 AND WE WILL BE SO GRATEFUL WHEN IT DROPS DOWN BELOW $5.00?
We are like the frog in the kettle. The heat is slowly being turned up and we are cooking without knowing it!
Don’t be fooled. Don’t be relieved because the price of fuel is down to the mid $3.00 range. Be outraged. Don’t start driving more because the price has dropped. Take a stand. Cut back on your driving. Car-pool or use mass transit. Purchase more economical cars. Consider alternate fuels. Drive more carefully. The only way we will be able to hold the line on prices next spring will be to hold our consumption of fuel down. If we allow ourselves to be lulled by the lower prices the oil companies will use supply and demand against us again.
The price of fuel has degraded my lifestyle and I’ll be it has affected you too.

I am seeing gasoline prices in the West below $3.00. Many people are thrilled to see the price coming down. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to see prices at a lower level but I believe that now is the time to really put the moves on the oil producers. Prices are coming down because shocked consumers cut their consumption. Now is not the time to sigh with relief and start driving with abandon again. Now is the time to conserve even more. If we are wise enough to continue to drive conservatively we could drive the prices much lower into the $1.00 to $2.00 range. We are making progress don’t stop now.
